Do I Think Too Much? Do you? What Would Brigid, An Illumination Goddess Do?

They Say Ignorance Is Bliss....is it?

There are times I can really appreciate the idea “ignorance is bliss” because I think too much.  About the sexualization of Evangelical liturgy leading to the desire for political strongmen, Epstein-envy or pedo pastors.  Or patriarchy's denial of emotions, intellectual laziness of MAGA, etc.  I wish I could just flip a switch and turn my thinking off, but alas, this is my Virgo blessing/curse. And being a Goddess advocate, I know what Brigid, Goddess or Saint, would probably do, just as we know what Christ Consciousness might suggest.

Is your Light Bulb Always On?
Is your Light Bulb Always On?

So I’m thinking about the measles outbreak going on right now, which reminds me of the people who stopped talking to me because I didn’t believe the conspiracy theories about vaccines. Then there was how I alienated an anti-vax friend when I said I felt like a caged animal in my house during covid because people on my little conservative mountain didn’t want to wear masks.  Or I remember the fellow in line at the post office who spit at me when I simply asked if he was in line for mail - because he wasn’t wearing a mask and one was required when picking up at our post office during the pandemic.

I think about the people who can’t afford groceries, those who don’t care about women bleeding out in parking lots because their local ER won’t treat their miscarriage or my brown neighbors being picked up by ICE for no good reason and then being disappeared. I think about the people not moved by cruelty, family separation, or having a loved one held in a gulap for no reason other than not being white.  I think about the women and men I know who apparently believe racism and sexism can exist harmoniously alongside love and unity.  And the people pushing gullible women into Trad Wife lives and jumping on Elon Musk’s “no empathy” train because they think he’s got the secret sauce because he’s rich.  I think it’s pretty obvious with some critical thinking wealth does not automatically come with healthy values, competence or ethics. Just look at Peter Thiel.

I’m thinking about all the Law of Attraction, New Age and New Thought people who refuse to watch the news because it’s a “noose” and fear the discomfort it brings up because it might disconnect them from The Flow or block their Ascension to 5-D.  So they haven’t a clue what's happening and meditate on a candle to decide who to vote for – true story.  I asked in my last newsletter should we be concerned MAGA is jumping ship now probably just because groceries are too damn high and not because they’re re-thinking their values and ethics.

Which brings me to a podcast I heard today from those two fearless gals on IHIP News on Youtube, Jennifer Welch and Angie "Pumps" Sullivan.  The more vocal one, Jennifer, was beseeching Democrats to not try to curry favor with bigots.  One either believes in universal human rights or one doesn’t and this is no time to relinquish our values.  It begs us to question who do we want in our immediate circles?  Are we okay with people who don’t value human rights, diversity, equality and inclusion?  Then she read a very moving and astute post from someone called Agent Self FBI which appeared on the X platform:

"MAGA isn’t drawn to Trump because he’s smart or competent. They’re drawn to him because he tells uneducated and insecure angry people that their stupidity and ignorance is actually strength.

He gives them a script where nothing is ever their fault. Blame immigrants. Blame elites. Blame Democrats.  Blame anyone except the person in the mirror.

He turns racism and sexism into political identity.  He makes being uninformed feel heroic. And MAGA eats it up because it saves them from having to grow, learn, change.  They don’t want leadership. They want validation for being ignorant – and Trump gives it to them every day."

Jennifer went on to say Trump and MAGA embody intellectual laziness.  They validate and enable rigid black and white thinking.  They are upset, emotional and angry and their psychological worldview prevents them from evolving because it’s just too painful for them to grow. I think this might also address much of the toxic masculinity and male loneliness as men have been conditioned in patriarchy to deny their emotional needs so many have no emotional maturity but they never look inside themselves or look in the mirror or raise their internal bar.  It’s easier and takes less effort to just blame feminism, liberal women, and Democrats.

But here's another piece of the puzzle when it comes to Evangelicals craving a Daddy or strongman. You can check out here what former pastor and deconstructionist, Darante'LaMar explains about the spiritual psychology of worship culture that blends "Daddy/Father" language with bridal devotion, sexual takeover or control metaphors ("fill me," "consume me.", "have your way with me") and surrender narratives of submission that are transformed into an unhealthy kind of love language. It explains strongman politics, Epstein-envy, personal boundary collapse and familiarity with authoritarianism.

Yes, I think this exactly reflects my thoughts and observations these days. It’s not the answer to everything but it’s a concise observation, a thumbnail sketch.  I’ll spare you my other stray thoughts still needing a file folder for now.  Maybe now that I’ve written this down for clarity and gotten it out of my head I can flip my switch and just go play Mexican Train, try to unravel the mysteries of the Akashic Records -- and light a candle to Brigid, one of our Illumination Goddesses who inspires and motivates us toward wisdom, knowledge, agency and illumination.

I hope if you’re reading this it might help you sort out your thoughts as well. And please go back to my newsletter now :)
